Lecture Week 2 & 3: Emphasis, Balance, Repetition & Movement
Balance can be classified as symmetrical or asymmetrical form.
In symmetrical balance, the elements are distributed equally on horizontal or vertical. If the elements are arranged equally around the central point, it will be a radial balance. Approximate symmetry shows equivalent but not identical forms arranged around the fulcrum line.
In asymmetrical balance, the variety of visuals shows the feeling of modernism, movement from the eye, energy & vitality.
The Golden Ratio is commonly used to create visual balance in architecture and paintings to bring harmony, balance and structure to the work.
Rule of Thirds is about dividing into thirds, horizontally and vertically to create more dynamism in the work.

Artwork Idea Exploration
Emphasis
A design strategy that aims to catch the viewers' attention from the dominance & focus in design work. Standing out the contrast of shapes, colours, size and etc in visual.
Movement
Movement in the elements of shapes, forms, lines or curves guides the viewers' eye in the artwork design.
Final Design
Emphasis
The artwork focuses on the natural elements, butterflies. Showing the focus of the main butterfly among other different species of butterflies.
Movement
The looping of the floating ballon shows the focus movement of the element in the overall visual artwork. Guiding the viewer's eye on the red balloon.
Feedback from lecturer
Emphasis
The overall design is good. Just to decrease the opacity of the background elements would be better to more focusing on the main butterfly.
Movement
The balloon can be floating higher and make the video loop to show the continued movement in the overall design.
Reflection
Brainstorming the design with different topics is interesting in the overall process of developing the artwork. I understand the different principles of design which makes me able to play with different ideas.
